Default Anyone do a E34 5 speed conversion?

With the death of my GM auto box I am comptemplating a 5 speed conversion. Other than the obvious needs, i.e. trans, driveshaft, shifter, pedal box, and ECU, are there any other need to have's? Does it require a 5 speed cluster? I only plan on doing this if I can find a donor car.

You're right to want a donor car- even if you get a screamin' deal on the big stuff, you'd get killed on the small bits if you had to buy them new.

AFAIK, you don't need to swap the engine ECU, you will have to do something to make the car think the tranny is in there and working- OR swap in the 5 speed engine wiring harness.... (that's what I've heard- I have NOT actually done this- yet.....)

I am in the process of doing this now. My car is out at Koala Motorsports. You will need to source a manual Instrument cluster - that is what tells the ECU it is now a manual. Apparently there is a chip in there that you move over to your instrument cluster. - JT

Artem has one. He said it would work on my M20 89 525i... If that works for you, contact him.
