Default OT: Junkyard bike I built for competition:

Ot, but since this sight is about technical engineering . Every year our high school takes place in a junkyard car building tournament. The vehicles can't be over 36 inches tall. You also can't touch the ground at any time to get the bike started or even touch the tires. There's also a whole bunch of other dumb rules you need to follow, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, here's the bike I built. It's basically a two seater with a rack an pinion steering sytem, free rotating driveshaft with chain derailers, and a crank start on the freespining sprocket to help you with a quick start-off. I welded the front tires on from a ride on lawn-mower. The competition was last Friday with about 50 other bikes competing form different schools in the area. We came in first place for the overall time to complete the course (41 seconds) and 1st place for overall originality and design. Now that the competition is over, we're going to throw a 3.5 horsepower engine on it while we rebuild a 20 Hp one.

This piece was used to propel the bike form a stop. A hollow tube was placed over the shaft and then cranked forward several times. It was very useful and gave us an extremely fast start.

Yeah, I decided to go with 24kt gold because I just simply won't accept anything less. Even with all the bling, I seemed to have left the neons out .

Nice job, I wonder if you'll be able to break the rear end loose with 20 hps

You're lucky the russianracer/ wasn't entered in the competition.
