Default What to use to lube door locks?

My key sticks a little coming out of the door lock. I have some tube graphite but is that the best thing to use? I feel like something liquidy is probably bettter. Anything that I definitly SHOULDNT use?

Alan, I'd try something like pure silicone lube (the kind that washes away after water saturation, not Tef Gel or anything that will leave a sticky residue).

The cylinder could just be worn, though.

    best, whit

    Default No oils, just graphite

Dust the key with graphite and work the lock, repeat several times.

Clean the key when done to avoid stains on clothes.

What's up Allen, nice meeting you today. Anyway, I would go with what blitz. bob said to do. I used the graphite stuff when I used to work on older muscle cars. Works like a charm.

You might want to clean the lock first - locks, especially on cars tend to gather dirt.
1.Hold a rag under the lock, spray in some WD 40 (or similar) and insert key. 2.Work it around and wipe clean on the rag.
3.Repeat until there is no more dirt on the key after working it in the lock.

Then just lube it with what the guys suggested. Did it on my mums car, and on several locks around the house. Works like a charm!
