::.. Changed the Guibo / Flex Disc

Thanks once again to those in the forum Changed the guibo today and car shifts like a champ. Feels like the entire shifter has tightened up. Check the bearing and doesn't look like it needs to be changed so I kept that $100 in my pocket.

good job fixing the prob. I've had the driveshaft off my car four times and always contemplated changing the center bearing,.... haven't yet. For some reason, I seem to doing some strange experiment. I'm anal about swapping everything else out except the bearing. Its like the Seinfeld episode where Cramer drives the Saab empyt with the salesman.

I get such a rush, never know when the driveshaft will beak loose.

Anyhow, I'm out for some green beer,

Yours doesn't seem to be that bad in comparison to the last 2 I have replaced in the past 6 months...

They weren't that bad, the first one was actually worse than the second one. When I got around the replacing the 2nd one, 3 of the bolts were already missing, so at least it was easier to remove lol.

Two in last 6 months? Do you have a vibration problem in the driveshaft, that could be causing the guibos to give out that quick?

I just replaced mine, don't know how long the previous part was in there but it had cracks.

The first one went out because of its age. The second one went out either because it was an inferior part (my mechanic told me there has been a huge influx on thse kinda of parts from Malaysia), or when my gas tank was replaced, I think the shop didn't re-align my driveshaft right, causing it to shred the guibo in a matter of months. I gradually check the guibo form time to time because I am a bit paranoid, but it looks fine as is holding up well. (Knocks on wood.)

How long does it take a decent home mechanic to change out the guibo and drivewhaft center bearing?

Cost (BMA, etc.) of parts?

Budget about 1.5 to 2 hours for a minor experienced DIY to drop the exhaust and do both. Of course if you've never done it before, may be more. Of course with more than one person, your mileage will vary.
