Default Center console: manual versus automatic

Is the center console different for a manual E34 versus an automatic one?

I don't believe it is Jay. I think the only difference is the wood piece that goes around the shifter itself.

    Default the only difference...

is the trim piece and the shift lever boot. The rest of the stuff you can rip out.

    Well, that's a difference.

I guess I should have asked, "are they interchangeable?" I'm just talking about this piece:

Naturally the top part immediately around the shifter (absent from the pic) is different.

The piece in your photo is exactly the same on either automatic or manual, the only part that is different is the wood piece that goes around the shifter itself that is easily removed. The console itself remains the same.
