IMHO, not really. It's got a good chunk of milage. But I'm ALWAYS suspect of Craigslist adds, specially when they dont list a name or number.

Simple enough to find out. Just email the anon email address with specific questions. If you get some reply that's very generic and anywhere contains "I will require a deposit" or "the car is out of state right now" etc... tell him to fawk awf.

If the dood says "here's my number, call me to check it out". Do it.

Hmm...I thought I've seen those pictures on SF craigslist. Be careful with it.

Aren't those pictures look too pic. Perfect. Seem like copied from some commercial. Does not look like pic taken by owner. See that background etc.

Not too when compared with this one:

Although it doesn' have the "mods" the other one has. Most of the M5's for that year and price have at least 80k miles on them. However, the modifications he lists (but doesn't show a picture of) are very expensive. The Tubi exhaust is top of the line. It goes for about $3k, the Dinan LSD is also very pricey as is the Brembo upgrade. So yeah, this thing is too good to be true. Ask the guy for a pictures of the wheels and rear apron and the engine bay. See if you get a response.

If you have to ask, you probably already know.

Thats actually not that cheap- wholesale book can be as low as 31K based on a fair condition at KBB.com- Based on the mods and the wording of the ad, I would have to vote raced hard and put to bed wet. Used cars are other people's problems. I would look to spend 35K on something else.

If it weren't for the tasty mods I would say it's legit. We had a white '01 M5 on our local dealer lot with around 60k on it for $38k, that's the normal inflated dealer price. I suppose $31k from an individual might be about right. Watch for the E39 M5 prices to really drop now that the E60 M5 is out, all the posers have to go get the next big thing. Thank God for depreciation, maybe I can afford one some day.
