Default Whats a good engine upgrade for the 528e?

I just purchased it for the motor, it has the b27 with an i head recently built.
I was gonna swap out other parts as well, apparently I can't use much.
Its not a bad car so Im thinkin maybe find out what I can stuff in there.
I know this forum is mostly for e34 fivers, but figured somebody gotta know
something bout the e28 as well.....Thanks
Well it's not gonna build itself.

    Default e28 528

You're probably better off selling it and getting a late (88) 535i(s).
Lot's more power and more upgrades available.
The place for info on the e28 is mye28.com.

Get a i head , intake plenum, AFM. It breaths better and revs fasterm hence more power compared to the ETA.

Im guessing my best bet may be to part it out then as I pulled the eta w-i head for my 325, thanx for the reply.

Actually I bought the car because it already has that set up, but Im putting that in my 325e.

I figured maybe there was a bigger swap I could go with for the 5, because it actually is a pretty cool car.
    anyways thanx.

Well I guess there's nothing much to stop you getting an M60 - perhaps go the whole hog w a V8 (except cash?). Not many e28s run that setup! It should fit- but it wouldn't exactly be a piece of cake. The most critical dimension would be the shock tower widths of course, pretty much all else would be doable with some brackets and a new custom tailshaft, except you'd be rewiring the whole car with the 540 wiring loom, ECU and tranny. Brakes would fit straight on. I can see this all working really well but the job would require a donor car, major strip of the engine bay, driveline and interior job. You could put any of the big 6s in her of course, but if you get an e34 motor you will need to do the wiring loom too. The main problem (as I see it) would really be retroconnecting the e28 blower setup to the e34 loom, which would be a bit tedious, but I doubt hard.

You should be able to stick the M30 in there pretty easily. The E28 came with the 2.8 and the M30 3.3 until 84. The 3.3 was upgraded to the same 3.5 used in the E34 in 85. All the wiring should be in place. The management might be different, but I think not. Mark D. would know that answer. The exhaust was different on the larger engine, but nothing else comes to mind. I loved my 533. Just got rid of it a few months ago with 280K mi on the clock and it still screamed.
