    Default annoying exhaust leak

Hello everyone, i've had an very annoying exhaust leak. The engine is louder than usual and you can hear it leaking out under load, sounds a bit like pinging but happens at all rpm. anyway you can hear hissing etc. when the car is sitting.

anyway i have been frigging around with the front to rear flange, but it doesn't seem to be that, it actually sounds a bit closer to the engine, so i suppose the next place to look is the manifold to front pipe flange. Anyway I was wondering could a leak before the O2 sensor stuff up your idle quality etc. by throwing the reading out.

Default Are you sure its exhaust?

I have similar hissing near engine while idaling and it truned out to be Non-Return valve at breake booster. It have a tiny nippal which brakes and creats a hole for vaccum leak.

Try to trace/follow though the hissing sound may be it intake side not exhaust side?

yeah i am pretty sure at this stage it is the exhaust, as my car suddenly became twice as loud one day and it pops etc.
BTW i am not asking for people to tell me how to fix an exhaust leak, I can manage that myself. I am just wondering whether my rough idle problem could be related, now that i am fairly certain the leak is before the O2 sensor

    Default Sorry man .......

you know more about exhaust than I do. I never worked on exhaust job yet. But I was just telling you about my experiance on hissing sound that it might be from intake side too. But if you are sure its exhaust then you know better how to fix it.

    Good luck

To answer your question.. yes.. your rough idle is most likely related to that. I just got an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold gasket fixed and it resolved all of my rough idle problems as well as poor gas mileage problems.
