Default Saved a grand on exhaust today.

Everywhere I went, I was quoted $1000-$1500 for exhaust work. Found a hole in the wall shop that installed a Y-pipe to make it a single inlet-outlet system to save some money, then they replaced the cat, resonator, and muffler. They even threw in a dummy tip at no charge. Total: $350 out the door. I dont notice much of a loss of power, and I'm one happy camper.

I hope it stays together better than your friend's Cavalier All humor aside, unless the shop is into charity, I wouldn't expect the system to go a quarter of the distance an OEM system would.

But, if you needed an exhaust at a good price, it sounds like you got it.

Im sure there's a bit of restriction with just one pipe. Its eerily silent, but I do miss the growl I had before. I dont expect it to last as long as OEM, but if I get five years of use I'll be happy. Thats probably how long I'll be keeping the car anyway.

I think you'll be lucky to get two or three years if you live with salty roads.

I'm not using the BMW as a snowplow. There's a reason I own a Nissan Maxima. If I still owned the Q45, I'd probably use that for snow as well, since it has a completely trouble-free stainless exhaust.

Hmmm... time to buy another Q45...
