M20 has been around for a while. What is the stock flywheel on it ? Did BMW go to a dual mass unit for the e34 ? What about a flywheel from an older m20 e28 or an e30 ?
Well I've discovered that my flywheel is making some noise. Ive been researching here and have found that there are 3 basic options: OEM dual mass, lightweight aluminum, E28 type.
I dont want to spend $600 for aluminum flywheel and have to rev to 3k RPM to start rolling. The E28 flywheel is a good match for a M30 3.5L crank, but havent found a thread discussing the mating of one to a M20 2.5L crank.
Anyone have any input about this? If it would work, where to get, average prices, clutch arrangements, etc.?
What do you guys think?

The ETK shows a dual mass for the E30 and E34. Still looking for earlier makes and what flywheels show up.
