I have owned this car for approx 18 mos...I have a loud groan in reverse...anyone else experience this?

Is this brake or tranny related...also slips into reverse

do you have automatic transmission or manual gear?
If automatic, have you checked the oil level and the colour of the oil? Is it black, does it smell burnt?

My BMW guy says the tranny is self contained, does not get fluid added.....
no maintenenace

I am no expert on these trannys - but I read that the 5HP18 has separate servos for forward and reverse gears (maybe all autos do, I dunno). If it is just reverse, that would seem a preliminary indicator...
