Default Anyone use a slim jim to open the door?

We may need to 'break' into our 89 735i to get the 'james' key out of the glovebox. Does a slim jim bar (like the cops use) work on our e32s?

Son is looking for the key now but if he can't find it, we'll have to get in somehow!

    Thanks!

If it is doubled locked, no chance. Then you even cannot open it from inside by pulling the door pin.

A mechanic got into our formerly owned 525 after the battery went dead when the car so it is possible to break in. The mechanic had a device that he slipped between the door frame and the car that was a little pad and a pump. The pad inflated and created enough room to get in and un lock it. My husband was astonished at how easy this procedure was. He claims the device is widely available.

I did not witness this event as it was my husbands car. The only thing I remember about it was the locks kept unlocking themselves after that. Probably a lock resynch would have resolved this. This problem eventually went away--we probably resynched the locks inadvertantly. This was all before I started reading this site so we didn't know about the emergency unlock procedure. My husband claims that afterwards the door was no worse off for the experience.

    Good luck.

There is a way in without breaking anything except a door cover. I won't say on the forum.

The key had been lost. Now it is found!

I'd be interested in finding out more about the 'emergency unlock' procedure.

Even that is too much, do not break anything

But again, cannot say that here and do not send me PM's for that.
