Default Alert (ding/gong) sound has been silent, since yesterday...???

It just happenned on my '95 540i/A (68+K miles) since yesterday. When I started my car yesterday morning, I noticed the alert (ding/gong) sound was silent. (BTW, all OBD & Control Check messages/warnings are functioning as normal...)

I would be very appreciated any advice/suggestion.

    Many thanks,
    CC1

the speaker for the "gong" is under a panel above your shins(drivers side). there are 4 black plugs situated on the panel. 2 near the floor at the base of the pedals and the other 2 youll find if u look around there. i cant remeber where. the panel will drop down and the gong should be on the right hand side of the panel. it has a plug that might be loose, check it.

Gentlemen, Thank you very much for your kind advice & the link...including, the one from Paul. (Yeah, it made me a big relief. )
Anyway, I'll take a day off from working tomorrow to take care the "gong".
(Well, I had walked to work in the past 2 days in the sub-zero weather in NYC, since Tue-Dec/20. Yeah, it sucks...but those poor guys have to do what they have to.)
