Will E31 T Star 265/40/17 wheels fit my 540?

HI folks,

I would be really grateful for a quick response on this as I have been offered a set of E31 840ci sport wheels in the following spec that I want to fit to my 1994 E34 540iv8:

Fronts 235/45/17 ET10 rim width 8J

Rears 265/40/17 ET19 rim width 9J

I have checked all the posts but no one seems to run 265/40/17 rears.

Does anyone know if I should go for these or not?

Std offset on a set of E34 M5 t-stars is ET20 and ET22 for staggared set.

The fronts you are looking at are ET10 which means the wheel will stick out a bit more (10mm) in the wheel well.....the only thing you need to watch for is rubbing on the fender well, especially if you have the car lowered. You should have no problems...in fact even more clearance than usual against the strut tower.

The rears that you are looking at are ET19 which means the wheel will mount more towards the fender again, as the fronts do. Once again, if the car is lowered, you may find the tire rubbing the fender well a bit if you have the rear of the car loaded. Plenty of clearance inside against the shock.

Overall these wheels will fit.

I have a set of E31 style 8s on my 540, they seem to fill out the wheel wells better than other 16s I have seen.

Good luck buddy. My 265's in the rear barely fit with an 18 offset wheel. When loaded, the wheels are tucked and a couple mm's of clearance only at best.
