    Default CD Changer Cleaning?

Never cleaned a CD changer before, methods & stuff to use?

I believe I have the 6 Disc BMW Pioneer one.

I use a standard CD cleaner, the CD with the cleaning stuff on it that you insert and run.

i've had a couple that i had to take apart to remove the furball that was stuck on the lens, if you do, do not touch the lens

Default How do you troubleshoot the changer

On my 90 525i with the BMW/Pioneer cd changer the trunk. It changes discs and appears to function correctly. But when you try to listen it give you an error message in the led screen. Is this a clean job or something more serious.

good chance it's dirty, also sometimes they will play a track or two then crap and give a error or just stop, generally it's a furball on the lens, try a cleaning disc and if that don't work they are usually easy to take apart and fix

Default Cartridge may also be a problem

I've also had trouble with the cartridge on my Pioneer unit. It would work fine sometimes and then the next day some disks won't play at all. I finally bought two new cartridges on eBay and they've worked fine ever since.
