Does anyone outthere really know how to replace an delaminate head liner in a 740IL/1995......aside from staple and pins.

yes, I know for sure. I have done several already. See my website below for detailed instructions with pics and special one with sunroof version.
No big difference for E32 and E38. Just use the online parts catalog and see where the screws, bolts and clips are.

I fixed mine by using 3m spray high-tack glue.
I pulled it back and down from the rear of the car and sprayed into the void -- pointing at the TOP of the car. (I let some hit the liner, and it soakd right thru).

I let it get very tacky, and then slowly wiht my hands, put the liner back up; tucked the "extra" that I ended up with up into the liner and pushed it all back up in the clips at the rear.

It turned out "ok" -- if I had to do it again; it would turn out much better.
