::.. HID Color Temp Comparison (6000k vs 7500k)

Just received a set of 6000k to replace the original 7500k and what a difference! You don't really notice until there is a comparison. Not only is the color very different but the light (lumens) as well! Subjectively, I would say 6000k is SIGNIFICANTLY brighter than 7500k. I realize that the color temp is a high factor but didn't realize just how much. Anyone want to buy my pair of 7500k 9006?

I would, for an experiment but my car has H1 type fittings, with thick glass lenses in, I currently have 6000K, but my headlamp fittings are far from perfect, A much better light than the old halogens though.........

The Lumen output is lower for the higher colour temp ranges, in H.I.D. lamps as well as the eyes sensitivity to the higher colour temp is somewhat less. (especially as you get older......) It all adds up to what appears a huge difference in perceived light

(Personally I would say, theres not much point in going for a higher than 6000K bulb unless its just for shows etc!)

I understood that there would be visible light loss on 7500k due to the higher spectrum, but the difference was just astonishing. I got the 7500k originally because the kit was quite inexpensive.

Perhaps Canadian spec has 9006 standard?

North American-spec cars are 9006/9005, vice the H1 of Euro-spec E34 ellipsoids...

Thats why!--forgot that non euro cars may have different lamps as well!

Ive got some 4500, and 5000K HID's but they have the correct D2S/R type bases........
Ive got quite a few, I thought of cutting a pair up if I could make up a H1 bases, but with the HT involved it would be difficult!

Maybe when I replace the headlight fittings for new, Ill experiment with the old ones to adapt them for the D2s type fitting.--Worth a try, I would only bin the old headlamps anyway..........

Yeah, probably, but I like the purple sparkle now. It's not as pretty or evident at 5000/4300

4300k -> 6000k, slight difference in lumen output.

6000->7500, HUGE difference.

Not much difference between 4300 and 6000, so if you really want some more color, don't worry, it's not losing much brightness.
