    Default help repairing LKM

The pass side low beam relay has died on my LKM. The board was reflowed twice. I would like to try replacing the relay. Anyone have a bad LKM or know where I should be able to find a relay?

    Cheers,

    Roland

I had the same problem. The LKM fix plus a new bulb fixed it.

i had the intermittent problem.. the re-solder fixed that a year ago. since this problem has developed over a month ago i have re-soldered twice and still nothing..

anyone have any idea which relay on the board is responsible for the passenger low beam? a photo if possible would be great

Just resolder the relay joints...the little square relays... two is on one side... the single is on other side... The single is fog light. The double is low and high... low side is the one closer to the edge of the LKM.

well what doesn't make sense to me is if there is only one relay responsible for the low-beams.. wouldn't both lights have to be out? as it stands only the passenger side one is out..

i tried using someone's lkm to make sure it's the lkm that's the problem and my lights worked fine with his..

    kind of frustrated now

There are two outlet contacts on these relays (STDP ?) that allow individual feeds from the 12v input when the relay is activated/closed: this allows one cold solder joint on the PCB to kill one light .....
Also, doing a 12v check at the 'dead' light will always yield a confusing +12v, allowing one to believe that the LKM is OK. What is being detected is a low amperage 12v current used for the bulb filament check/continuity circuit .... it looks good, but is of insufficient power to light the filament.

Once Florida gets power back, I think www.programainc.com
    may be even cheaper.

They are by far too expensive.
If you are not familiar with soldering electronics, see my website "how ro solder electronics".
Or bring it to a radio/TV repair shop.
They can do it within less than 1 hour.

There was a good website called E32fixes with an additional LKM fix. The site does not exist anymore. But I got hold of it with the wayback machine. So better download all the info from this on your PC
