    Hi,

    Im going to look at a 325I today to maybe purchase. Was wondering if there is any sort of checklist I can take with me specifically for this car so I can check things with are knowen to break? Im pretty clueless when it comes to cars engines. Any advice or links? Thanks!

    There's a significant difference in the two, and knowing what you're looking at will help us narrow down a list.

    sorry so stupid of me. LoL. Its a e36, 1993 model with 94K on it. Also the dealer told me over the phone that I can buy a bumper to bumper warranty on it for 3 months for $400. Should I buy the warranty if i decide to take the car.

    A lot depends on the service history of the car. I'll assume that the previous owners took reasonably good care of it.

    The engine is pretty much bullet proof.......you should easily get 200,000 out of it without major repairs.

    Common repair items include the following:
    * Lower control arms (ball joints) and lower control arm bushings
    * Rear shocks and shock mounts
    * Front struts
    * Radiator
    * Water pump

    You will have the usual items like brakes, plugs etc......

    If it's an automatic, I can't help. A standard tranny will last a very long time as will a clutch that hasn't been abused.

    Check for any rust whatsoever.....rocker panels especially

    Good luck
