have you tried asking the guys over Here?

OT need recommendation for good e30 board. bimmer.info like. My son has suckered me into helping him (doing) a drive shaft in his '87 325is. Also needs trans shifter seals etc.
I am highly incented to get this work done so I can get my '89 525 5s back before he begins to think of it as his and/or wears it out.
Looking for general info on work to be done, and "where used" parts info to see if we can get a good used driveshaft.
BMWs are great cars but old ones are tough for a limited income, newly wed with a new baby. Not looking for charity, just ref to good e30 board.

Gene, I'm sure Bret Luter has a driveshaft for you. We've got one in a parts car, as well.
What else would you like to know?
best, whit
Thanks for offer to help. Can we start with driveshaft "where used" parts swap for e30 manual trans?
Portland driveshaft outfit lists following types (part nos.?) Some one advised that there was a change in '87 model year. We need 325is '87 manual production month April '87.
325 Manual thru 2/86 E30
325e Manual 83-88 E30
325I Manual 11/86 thru 2/92 E30
Whit, I need to know "where used" compatability of e30 5s driveshafts. What years will fit '87 325is. With that info, I need good driveshaft. Rigmaster no help now.

Hope this helps a little. Gene, I've found the guys at r3vlimited and roadfly of about the same mentality, not much help, and like to hear themselves talk. Where's your son located? I'd be happy to lend a wrenching hand, as I've been through most of the driveline on my E30 (haven't replaced the driveshaft yet, but I think I caught the center bearing before it destroyed the u-joints). Make sure the preload is set right on the center bearing when going back with the driveshaft, and change the pilot bushing in the front of the driveshaft. Oh, and Redline fluids DO make a difference in noise.
Would highly suggest replacing worn shifter components at this same time.
