your vehicle should be OBD I and there should be some type of communications port. But I am not that good with the OBD I system. Pulse and spark are controled by cam and crank postition sensor. So you may give them a looksie and see if they ohm out or have the correct voltage. Also check the timing belt/ chain. If the belt broke while driving you could have bent valves. You can check to see if you canh turn the crankshaft with a rachet by hand. If you have access to a diagnostic connector then check to see if the ecu is throwing bogus codes. Normally the ECU will throw fake codes when it has gone. Hope this helps you. Sorry to hear your problem as well. and Good luck.
