    Default Drove a 2000 M5 today.

Only had 35k miles on it and was in very nice shape. I have read that some years have an oil consumption problem. What years are the good ones or the ones to stay away from?

    Default The earliest production ones....

had oval piston rings I believe. These early production motors were the ones that used a lot of oil. I used to know the production date, but it eludes me right now. I want to say up until 6/01.

If I had that much money, I would rather buy a '95 3.8l E34 M5 and turbo charge it. Just my point of view.

Yes it was nice. Totally a different ride and handling then my tweaked 535. When I drove away in my car my son said Dad your car really goes pretty good too. Have not made a decision yet but I am going to keep looking. Mt son did say think what we could do if we put a turbo on yours!
