    Default Tank level sensor

Here is a link to a fuel level sensor being sold in Ebay.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-F...temZ7994427325

I have a 1994 BMW 520 (E34) with M50 engine and plastic tank. Will that fuel level fit my car?
The fuel level sensor on my car is fixed with a large plastic "nut". You have to screw out and it comes out (I did not open it).

    Thanks in advance.

Try out the online spare parts catalog.
With used parts you have to know what you buy, so better check carefully.

www.realoem.com is good- it's basically the BMW ETK (electronic parts catalog) with some imaginary prices (the site says they are not yet selling parts- not sure what the prices are based on......).

One useful feature is the "find part number" link- once you find the part number you need, you can enter it and it will tell you what other models that part number can be found on...

Or take the BMW PartLookup. That has the advantage that the drawings can be copied and shown here on the board, whereas with realoem you can only link that one

If you have a 1994 520 M50 with plastik tank, then you should have the European version

    Additional info;
Just see that the vendor is vinesauto. They are quite experienced. Send email to the vendor and ask them if it fits to your car. Best is you give the the chassis number.

i just looked up in the www.bmwtoolkit.com website and yes, this fuel sending unit will not fit my car. Its for a car with metal tank. A really great site guys.

The fuel sending unit in my car usually does not show anything, but if you fill the tank it shows something like 30-40% full tank. Is it possible to repair that? Why is it showing wrong?
I had another second hand BMW 5 series (don't know exact number) with plastic tank like mine. Its fuel level senso was also showing wrong levels. With 10 litres it was showing nill.

    Default BMW over Engineered

Most of the car..So as I have found, most fixes are possible.

If the sender is still working through some of the range of the gauge, than you may be able to pull the sender and fix it by either cleaning the resistor wires or re mounting a losse sender cover that maybe interrupting the floater.

Order the gasket and give it a try

Vee ave vays of dealing vid your kind...........
