It's a different M5 that's crashed. It's the one in Taiwan that was crashed by journalists who took it on a test drive and lost control. Anyway, very sad.

that reminds me of the first Jaguar XJ220 to land in Australia. a journalist crashed it into a wall the day before it was due to parade in some exhibition, so it was wearing a car-bra when it first appeared!

regardless of when or how that M5 crashed, it is terrible.. proof that 507hp in a road car isn't the best idea

Doesn't the new M5 have the option to switch toan "around town mode" that "only" uses 400hp?

it does, but it would probably be pressed once and never touched again... i would always think i'd be better off in traffic with 507hp!

Yes, but a 400HP car is still a letal weapon to the un-initiated. Traction control or not , cars are just not idiot proof.

I would love to see a car that can prevent an idiot from driving it. It should say "Sorry Human, with the phone glued to your ears, you cannot drive me becuase you can serious hurt me and yourself in the process." Click: " Shutdown all electrics for 1 hour!".
