    Default need a part

    Greetings
I am looking for a couple of parts and I am hoping someone here has them for sale or can recommend a source.

First, the 3 button a/c switch for 1989 5251. The part number is 6131 1 391 764. Has anyone had experience using a used one? Or, would you recommend I only get a new one? If I can find a used one, what should I expect to pay?

I am also looking for a used external temperature sensor. I don't know the part number for that unit, I think it might be: part # 65818350779, but not positive. It seems to be a special order, dealer only item and retails for about $25. Anyone have a source for one of these 'lil beauties?

    All help appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,

    JF

bma http://www.bmaautoparts.com/ $24.75 for the temp sensor, call (or email) them for the other item.

If a part is cheap enough I'd sooner purchase a new one vs buying a used one. Someone like Vines Automotive could get you the above parts for a bit cheaper, but would you rather spend an extra few bucks and buy a part that will last a while or a used one that already has seen a lot of use?

    Rick,
Thanks for your note and I agree in principle. This is my college student son's car and all monies not spent on parts can go in the gas tank.

I told him he should probably step up and buy the sensor new because we cant seem to find a used one and like I said, it is available through the dealer for the same price ($25.00) But since we are looking for the used switch, which sells for approx $70 new, we hoped we might be able to get the outside temp sensor too.

BTW Vines did not have a used temp sensor. I haven't contacted them about the a/c switch.

    JF,

I should have both parts- used- from a parts car.

Let me know if you want to go that route, I will guarantee them to be in good working order.

    Thanks!!

    Bret.

    Bret,
Yes, I do want to go that route if possible. Here's a couple more questions for you:
What do you want for them ? What part of the country are you in?
How can I pay you? Check? paypal?
    Let me know and thanks!

Joe, just want you to know -- Bret is an excellent, if not one of the best, BMW wreckers around and you will get both superb service and parts that will exceed reasonable expectation.

Ever since a band of preschoolers attacked his car...

...he's had to resort to riding this thing around....

but you still can't go wrong
