Default Left side indicators will not turn off after engine shutdown

'89 525i. My left hand side indicators - front, rear and side marker stay on all the time even after turning the engine off, and they don't blink on and off. Also while driving, the right hand side blinkers don't work at all. I pulled fuse no. 6 to turn them off. Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause of this?TIA

Default Problem solved....broken relay - see photos

I found the blinker relay by trial and error (kept pulling relays until the blinkers went out). I pulled the relay apart and found that the piece of metal was broken and jammed between the points giving a continuous contact and the blinkers stayed on.

i read somewhere, that euro and non-US cars have a function, where you pull the turn signal stalk, and push it farther than you would to engage teh blinker. It lights up the lights on the direction you pushed the stalk. It's a function you can use when parking on the street so cars can see you. I remember seeing this somewhere, might just check to see if you accidentally enabled that.

Default that convenient function is for parking lights - not blinkers

You are right with this function, but it is with the parking lights, not the blinkers.

    Default phils right

if you have stopped the car and park it on the street you can have the left front and left rear parking lights only by pushing the indicator stalk to the left side a bit firther than normal.Same for the right.I guess it means you can have your car lit up for twice as long as if all parking light are on.I beleive that some countries require cars to have parking lights on at night?
