Default Check the pressure in your spare!

I'm an avid tyre-pressure checker, but never bothered to check the spare. Too much effort. Today I did, and it was down at 24psi. I've driven 60,000kms and still haven't had a flat... but at least now I know my spare isn't flat!

Of course, don't do what I did, and drop the valve cap between the wheel spokes. It's a pain in the arse to have to take the whole wheel out just to get the little cap...

Or you can buy an new E60 or E90 in Oz and you don't get a spare, only run flat tyres.
How much crazier can BMW get ?

I press on the sidewall of the spare every once in a while usually when I vacuum the trunk.

You also don't get a dipstick.

Oh, and then there's the timed obsolescence on the car's entire electrical system.

And then there're the service intervals designed to get the car through the warranty period, before it breaks forever.

    I think I'll keep my E34

The no-spare idea isn't actually that bad. I heard somewhere that the average driver gets a flat something like every 150,000km. A spare wheel takes up a lot of space and weight, and the run-flat technology is getting a lot better.

I wouldn't mind a run-flat. No need to change the tire! Just keep on driving...
