Default Help - OBC Bulb replacement

I have just obtained a new bulb for my OBC display. I have checked my manual but there is no instruction on how to replace this bulb.

    Can anyone help?

How do I remove the front panel?
    Thx

You need to take out the stereo and then theres a lever behind the OBC that ejects it and the bulbs are just on the sides & top and twist out.

Make sure you have the right bulb.

you'll note in this diagram...all of the units area listed (clock, limited OBC, and full OBC). The bulbs for each are #4, #7, and #10...the 12v bulb is #7 in the diagram which is the bulb you should use for replacement (although it is listed for the limited OBC w/digital clock & ext temp display).

I have the unit out and have discovered that it looks like I have the wrong bulb!

What kind of tool should I use to remove the bulbs?

Are the bulbs only available from BMW?

push and twist should remove the bulbs, replace them all since your in there. The dealer should be a safe bet to get the correct bulbs, inspect and compare them good before you walk out.

needlenose plyers to remove the bulbs, they screw in about half a turn

make sure you get the BLACK bulbs, 12v, not the green ones (6.5v)

    running a 6.5v LED with 12v = short lifespan

The green ones can melt your OBC (So I've been told). You can get the bulbs with the black holder or you can replace just the bulb (12V) and use your black holder. They are available from BMA but I think there's something wrong with their computer listing. They sent me the green 6.5v.

A dealer should have those, I got mine for under 1.00/ea. One was burned out, but since there are 3 bulbs I decided to replace them all at once while I had it out.
