Default Mintex pads on e31 850csi single front calipers

What are they like. Is anyone running this setup here for the front.

There's also textar and jurid to choose from at greater prices, are there any other pads available?

Mintex orange box are horrible track pads.

The problem with the e31 single caliper pistons is a lack of pad selection. The E34 M5 brakes are better as they use the same pad as the E36.

Hi Jeff. You were telling me this before that the pad selction for the e31 single caliper brakes was limited. When going with this brake setup, what should I do? is there a track pad available for it?

I don't know much about these brakes really. I passed on them when it was obvious there was a limited selection. Drew Z, occasional visitor and owner of the Frankenwagen, may have the best experiance with them.

I'm sure you CAN get a track pad for this caliper. Here for example...

I tried Jurid, Mintex, and Hawk pads when I had the single-piston 850i calipers. The Jurid were waaaay too dusty for street use. Mintex were about 1/3 less-dusty that Jurid, and wore out FAST. Hawk HPS have been the best all-around street pads that I've tried by far. They're quiet, reasonably grippy, clean and durable. I found bimmerworld to have the best prices, but Tire Rack also carries them.

I now have Hawk HP+ for track use. They're an aggressive street/light track pad. I usually install them a week or two before a track day & can leave them on for a while after. They're much noisier and dustier than the HPS, but perform pretty well at track temps.

    Hope this helps,
    Drew Zacharda
