Default Anyone ever put a performance coil on an M30?

Been reading some stuff on high performance coils...sounds like there might be something to be gained above the 4.5k to 5k RPM range with a high perf coil ala a Jacobs or similar.

Don't know much about the BMW ignition system and how much "performance" it leaves on the table. Reading suggests that a tweeked coil would allow larger plug gaps...

Or...alternative thought - how long does a stock coil really last for? Do they "fall off" over time or do they run at 100% and then just die?

    thx!

Jacobs Electronic is accurate in ignition performance. Yes, there is to gain on the ignition system upgrade. The biggest improvement to classic ignition system... separate coil type... is adding a computer to the system along with new coil.

Factory has to justify cost so they compromise on this system. BMW however are on higher side of the performance but still have room to improve.
