It should work, might need 5mm spacers.

Sorry not too keen on wheels.

20mm is normal / standard. 13mm should be okay.

Default what's the width of the wheel?

Since all 5/6/7/8 series BMW wheels are interchangeable (except the E39)...the wheel offsets of the oe BMW wheels for these cars run between 11mm (or maybe 10mm) - 26mm. If you go to the online parts database and look up the wheels of any 5/6/7/8 series (except the e39)...you can see the varying offsets for the different wheels to verify what I've written.

    BMW online parts database: www.realoem.com/bmw

And as its been written ad nauseum...the E39 has a 74.1mm wheel hub whereas all other 5/6/7/8 series BMWs have a 72.6mm hub...and hubcentric rings are required to mount E39 wheels to prevent wheel shimmy.

Just to dig up this old thread, any opinions on 8x17 ET10 and 9x17 ET20 with 235/45/17's for the E34 ?

front track will be wider, changing the geometry.
if you are lowered it might bring the outer edge of the tire too close to the fender lip.

    235 on a 9" wheel is a stretch
    use 255/40/17 in the rear
