Hello All - after careful consideration, I am about to purchase a 1995 BMW 520i touring (£2800GBP). It is in brilliant mechanical condition with 113K miles. It has a complete service history, having never missed a BMW oil change. I am having the car looked at by an independent garage this Saturday, as one last sanity check. This will be my only vehicle so I will rely on it for all of my transportation needs (I do ride my bike to work though). I plan on doing as much of the service as possible myself.

The only downside to the car is that the exterior is not in perfect condition. There is no rust, but it has quite a few light scrates in the paint (calypso red), one small ding, and one of the side skirts is damaged. Also, the rubber coating on the roof rails is bubbling (not sure what to do about that?). I would like to get it a respray in the next year or so to freshen it up (any recommeds for getting a replacement side skirt?).

Are there any last minute words of wisdom from anyone before I take the plunge?

Cheers

John E
