    Default Waterpump questions

I'm thinking my the bearings on my water pump are gone. I'm looking through ETK at the water pump for the M30.

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...98&hg=11&fg=35

It lists item 4 as the "water pump bearing". Is replacing the bearing a DIY job, or should I just a buy a new pump?

While I'm there I'm going to replace the hoses

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...87&hg=11&fg=35

ETK lists items 1, 2, and 3 and the three main hoses. Should I replace anything else while I'm here, maybe a new thermostat. Of course all items will be bought through BMA.

    Regards

    Kristian

Just buy a new waterpump, don't try replacing bearings. It'll be a waste of time, since a new waterpump is super cheap from pretty much anywhere - autohausaz.com, bma, etc.

I replaced hoses #1,2, 3, and 6. That's a good $130 in hoses though... Anyways, replace the thermostat (i didn't since mine was fine, but I should've). Make sure your fan clutch is good too - but that's easy to replace later w/out having to drain coolant.

I'd say you have a good idea of what to replace while you're in there. Last I WOULD replace all 3 belts. Cheap and easy.
