Default Putting M5T up for sale

I think I'm seriously serious this time. It's not a question of if, but when.

I'm going to probably take my time and I thought I would ask here first to see if there are any leads on someone who would provide a good home for it.

If you know of someone who may be seriously interested, I'd appreciate any leads. I'll take out a classified in the Roundel in a month or so.

You know every single one of us would LOVE to buy your car... but can is a different issue considering no respectable bank would give a loan for a 11yr old wagon LOL... If I had the spare $20k or so no brainer... wonder if my mortgage refi people would mind me using my Equity line to buy this vs. payin off debt.... HAHHAHAHHAH

I'd go for it if I wasn't already saving up for the 545ixT in 06. Seeing as your E34M5T is worth about $60k all in, I will hope to keep my E34iT and take a trip to Germany next year and buy a 2006 US spec version over there and drive it around the Hinterland before shipping it home....spend about the same and get a nice trip in with the family to boot.

Sorry to hear about this excellent dream come true not lasting at least 100k more miles for you. Your car should be sold at a professional auction.

    best to you Matt

    Johntee,
My wife has a '99 540iT, and they are very, very different cars in some respects. A lot depends on what you want the car to do and how you are going to drive it.

The 540iT is a huge punch of torque down low, where as the M5T is a Wind-it-up until it screams proposition. The 540iT with the sport package can do some serious handling, but it's much more composed in normal driving, whereas the M5T always lets you know it wants on the track.

The 540iT only comes with the 5-speed steptronic, which in sport mode, does a very good job. You can stomp on it from the word go. The M5T of course, is a shift it yourself, and you need to let the engine warm up fully before going over 3500-4000 RPMs, (and the tranny is slight bit clunky when dead cold).

The E34 is.. well, you know, an E34. The E39 has more of the little luxury touches.
Styling is in the eye of the beholder.

I think it weighs around 3700-3800 lbs. I don’t have the exact specs handy. Around 150 lbs heavier than a sedan I believe.

I am looking for $35K, which is not out of line given other Euro M5's that have resold in the USA. Considering the condition, new EDC, and other upgrades, I could ask more, but I think that's a good price.

FWIW, I've spent almost $70K on it, and to import a "new" on would cost you about $16-17K in addition to the purchase price. And that does not include any maintainence.
