The Bentley manual is oblique.

take the plug out that you want to check and put the lead back onto it. then rest it on the rocker cover so that the plug is earthed and start the car(would be easier with a helping hand). if there's a spark you'll see it and hear it.

So it works the same with distributorless ignition?
