    On a side note, does this year M30 have anti-knock provisions?

    90 535iA ~222,500M

    AVG 19.4 MPG via OBC w/ 17" 235/45 on a 3.91S, stock ECU.

    No e34 M30 came with knock sensors, TMK.

    Close to 18mi/gal city, 27mi/gal highway. Compared to my previous car 29mi/gal city, 35mi/gal highway it isn't so bad

    Sorry to break the thread, but it seems that my consumption is 'average' so to speak Thank you VERY much for your submissions and do keep them coming. I'm sure someone will search for mileage and stumble upon this as a baseline.

    On the note of anti-knock sensor... since the M30 doesn't have it (1989), then if I chipped it and ran lower octane gas for whatever reason (yes, I know!), nothing would retard the timing and it would be knocking until it fell apart?
