    Default Flickering Lights Problem

    Hello again

Can anyone help me with this one, I have flickering electrics when the engine is running. It is more noticable when the lights are on, the flickering does not happen when the engine is off.

The CD player and everything else is unaffected, it is not a major problem but it is mildly annoying. I have a slightly noisy alternator but again this is not a major problem, voltage output with the engine running is a steady 14.4 volts.

Incidentally as this is a european 520, I do not have a LKM module, just nie and simple relays and fuses.

I am wondering whether it could be the fusible link or maybe the engine earth/ground connection, nothing has failed yet but I would like to eliminate the problem before being left stranded.

    Thanks

I had this problem on my previous car (UK 518i e34) it turned out to be the "black box" containing the brushes on the back of the alternator.
