    Default Cars from Japan...

Hmmm...my car is from Japan and has unusual taillight plastic. On both sides, it looks like one section was almost "taped over" to break up the solid red plastic. I saw this in shogun's post:
"Elimination of rear side marker lamp spacing standard of the Government of Japan or acceptability of the European Community rear side marking lamp spacing standard as equivalent to the Government of Japan's standard."
I know this is not a "rear side marker," but is this related to "lamp spacing?" Is this why my Japan version of the 750il has the unusual black space in the taillight plastic? Does anyone else have a 750il with rear taillight plastic that is not solid red? I will post a pic if need be.

    Default some pics

tail lights offered in Germany (German/ECE standard), the US tail lights do not have the fog tail lights

    Japanese E32

    new, in Japan on offer

    Offer from bavauto.com USA

    Part Number 63 21 1 379 498

You can also compare the part numbers on the online spare parts catalog. ECE and US model can be changed. Any difference in p/n?

Can you post a pic of yours?
Or was that modified by a boy racer. Some people stray the lights darker or even replace turn signal lights from yeoolow to white. Single glasses are available from www.reproglas.com in Sweden.

My tail light is above. See how it is blacked out? The spot above the white back-up light. From the other photos, it should be some kind of reflector. Mine seems to have a kind of black plastic or even a film over it. Weird?

Hmmm...can't get photo to appear, but click the link and you can see it. I might just see if I can peel the "black stuff" off or see if it is some kind of insert. Just wondering if anyone had seen this before?

Default I have never seen this, must be 'homemade'

I assume that the previous owner just put some tape on it. There are various tapes available for this for example from Folia Tech and also special sprays.

Default whit, here one more pic of a modified tail light from Japan

They often have rewired the single lights and here you can see another version. Also the turn signal is white. Comes from www.reproglass.com in Sweden. Have to break out the yellow and glue in the white one.
I guess also the trunk lid you have never seen before.

Here you can see more pics from the E32 club Japan

I don't know. I could not remove it, even with a razor knife. It seems like factory stuff. Looks like plastic paint or a seriously stuck decal. It is so perfectly applied, that I cannot tell. If I scrape it, I can get a very tiny sliver off, but it is almost impossible and really not worth it. Crazy. It must be part of the "reflector delete" option.

Maybe you try to heat it up with a hairdryer if you want to remove it.
It is either this special foil for tail lights or special tail light paint.
