540 alternator is making an annoying squeek.
If I hit it behind the pulley with some wd40 I can get it to go away for about a day. Is there a way to replace/fix the bearing without too much trouble. Or should I take it get rebuilt? If so, is it 'spensive?

Take the belt off first and spin by hand to make sure thats
the noise. If so then its not usually worth your while to have it rebuilt. Just buy a rebuilt unit from a vendor such as BMA. Go to www.partsamerica.com for a rough estimate on price
