Default Standard ///M5 wheels with "turbine" centre covers...

...if you wish you could replace the centre covers with the later and more desirable (it seems) "throwing star" covers. This is what I did. If they are a good deal in U.S. dollars I suggest you buy them as they do not come up for sale very often - even in the U.S. and they are O.E.M. (original equipment manufacture) made for the ///M5.

Not many people know this but these ///M5 wheels made for '88, '89, '90 M5's, the spokes at the centre (the black painted part in those Ebay photos) were cast approx. 5mm thicker than the spokes on the '91 and on M5 wheels fitted with the "throwing star" centres. This means that to fit "throwing star" centres to early model wheels you need to machine the centres approx. 5mm so as to have the "throwing star" centre sit properly. (ask me how I know)

    regards

What kind of info do you want? They're OEM E34 M5 wheels.

They're pretty rare in good condition like that..

I just hadn't seen those before. I thought I'd seen something like that on an E28 M5.

The problem is ... the only BMW with this wheel in the 9x17 size came on the e31 8 series. If you guys have the BMW ETK CD (or you can use the online parts database: www.realoem.com/bmw ) ... you can look this info up.

It looks like this set may have been "put together" by an enthusiest. The e34 M5 didn't come with a "staggard" Style 20 ...but the e31 8 series did...but it was Style 21 which has the same "base" wheel...but the hub caps are styled differently.

    Wheel Info
    E34 M5 Style 20 (8x17): 36 11 2 226 706 (ET:20)
    E31 Style 21 (8x17): 36 11 2 227 438 (ET:10)
    E31 Style 21 (9x17): 36 11 2 227 439 (ET:19)

The other parts of the wheel (the turbine hub caps, etc) are interchangable and could have been ordered to make a staggard set up with the wheel covers from the 1991 e34 M5.

Just thought I'd share...again...you can look this info up for yourself. I wonder if the seller would be willing to give the BMW part numbers off the wheels and the wheel offset numbers which should be cast into the wheel.

It's still a nice set up regardless of where the wheels originated.

    Default Can't blame the seller.

The throwing star covers can go for more as much as the wheels. I've got 2 sets of the turbines sitting in the garage. I like them, but they were hell to keep clean.
