Default OT, the qs brakes thread reminded me of one that came in a

couple of days ago... I had a dodge durango come in that the customer was sure that the pads were worn down to the metal since it was making a grinding noise.... Anyway i take the front end apart and one of the caliper bolts had backed out completely and the caliper housing had swung up until it hit the inside surface of the factory alloy wheels and had ground quite a groove in the wheels... I did a search on the TSB software that i have and sure enough a bulletin comes up regarding stripped out steering knuckles where the caliper bolts mount to them on durango's, the factory fix was a helicoil kit supplied by dodge for 256.00 and new caliper bolts... This was an
oddball size helicoil a 9mm by 1.25, so i hunted around for a couple of hours and found a local place that had the helicoil kit for 33.00 and came with a dozen helicoils, the tap and install tool... Hard to believe that Dodge didn't issue a recall on something this serious

Default It applies to 98/99 durango's and they don't need any help, they'll strip on

their own... It also applies to a wider year range of dakota as well..
