Can 9007 bulbs be made to fit a 9006 socket?
I saw the tutorial on installing a 9005 bulb into a 9006 socket... is there a way to do that with the 9007?
    thanks

I think its almost a plug n play deal, just make sure not to exceed 65 watts or you will have a meltdown! Compare the lumens of them compared to the 9005s before you waste your time and effort. Post what you find out on this subject.

    Thanks
The reason I asked is because I'm looking at a couple of HID kits that utilize the 9007 bulb socket, so heat shouldn't be a problem.

I'm going to continue to be a dick about this whole lighting issue and HID.

Before you do ANY of that, *read* the entirety of Daniel Stern's page:

    http://www.danielsternlighting.com

Get yourself a nice set of 9012/11 HIRs and euro OSRAM Silverstars for the fogs. Can't beat it unless you can find a way to retrofit the new cibie lamps into the e34 (I'm working on that one...)

    best, whit

Actually you have it backwards, there is no replacement for Incadecent. The only advantage that HID holds over Incadencent lighting is raw lumens output. The color rendering index for HID lamps is crap, they have horrible depth perception and they require more lumens output for the same amount of percieved light over incadecent bulbs.

As you incadecent bulbs get more efficient (i.e. HIR, H2, H9) and the lamp assemblies transmit light more effectively (old lens/reflectors were in the 20-30% efficient range, new multipoint reflectors and ellipsoids are in the 45-55% range, or twice as much light output for a lumen input), you will likely see less use of HID's. Essentially in the last 10 years since HID lamps have been introduced there has been a fourfold increase in actual light output in incadecent lighting.

As lowell said, I would pick the Cibie multipoint lamps over any HID lamps. Once you see a set of these (which can be overwatted with 100 watt bulbs) you will understand what the best really is.
