    Default 1989 E34 - Side Markers - Which Ones?

I'm seeing these on eBay and pretty sure they'll fit...

However... I see these advertised as well for supposed E34 '89... these will fit? Whoa?

...secondly... I haven't gotten it yet (tomorrow!) so are the rear side markers active or just reflectors?

I don't think the bottom ones will fit an e34, they dont look like the right shape. The top ones look correct, but the chrome trim is not in my taste. If you gotta a couple extra bucks go for the Euro trim and just delete the side markers all together.

the bottom ones are for the later model e34 that actually has those side markers. the top ones fit some e34.. and fit both front and back. i would personally not get them as they have chrome trim (you can make your own side markers easily and it costs like.. 5 bucks). if you want them however maybe you can sand and paint the chrome to make it black. or buy the euro trim pieces for the bumper and remove them completely..

You don't have to sand them. Just use blue painters tape on the reflectors and a can of testors flat black paint. Great mod for under $30

Mine were white when I bought them (shown next to oem)

    link?

Default I see, my car has none of them. ...

Though the fender side markers were not original BMW stuff, but retrofitting.

as everyone has stated, the top ones would fit and the bottom ones are not for the bumper , they are for the front fender.
If you don't want the chrome try www.procarparts.com for the white ones.

It is mandatory to have sidemarkers. Most manufacturers now integrate them with the front turnsignal and taillight. On many cars you can barely see it. I deleted mine a long time ago and never have had any legal issues with it.

Yes, it is 'legally' mandatory to have some sort of side marker in the US. I have never been stopped for not having them though. The Euro trim is factory so its not obvious they were deleted. I don't think the police actually check for side markers on vehicles.
