    Default '95 540I alarm HELP I'm STRANDED

I locked my '95 540i with the 'LOCK' button on the key to set the alarm. When I came back an hour later the batteries were DEAD in the key and the 'UNLOCK' button would not work. So I UNLOCKED the car by putting the key in the door and turning it. This set off the alarm and the car will NOT start. PLEASE HELP.

Rick, SAME damned thing happened to me. I mean, precisely.

I just changed the battery in my key fob this morning and it appears to be working.

As for a fix, unlock the door, open it, crank the car (1 or 2 turnovers), then close the door and re-lock it with the key fob. It will work if it's the same problem as mine.

The alarm will still be going; then just unlock it with the key fob. It will work this second time, and the alarm will disarm.
