The valve body for example is different on your 1987 E32, that still has the 8-pin plug on the trans, newer ones from around 12/1988 have the 7-pin plug. But you can change to a newer one by changing the complete trans with the transmission control unit.

When ordering for that built date, ALWAYS check the part numbers based on the VIN here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?lang=en
because the early 1987 735 model has some specialities, for example it has the same hydraulic brake booster as the 750 has, later 735 have the vacuum version.
One fellow from NZ, Max Fretter, had one years ago and he has some good write ups on that car, actually the site is copied and now on another web server as Max sold his 735 BMW and drives a BMW motor bike now http://bmwe32.masscom.net/maxf_website/freeyellow.com.html
Front shocks for your model are pretty expensive, but you can change to ones from a for example 1990 model, but with the shocks you also have to change the shock mounts, as the shock shaft has a different diameter. Also note, when you order parts from USA, some are different from your country specification like the LKM light control module, US E32 do not have rear foglights, therefore the LKM has only 3 relays while yours has 4 relays, etc
