(I know i've bugged you guy's for info on various mod's like turbo/supercharging etc but this is what i've decided to do.)

I've just put a deposite down on an 325i Touring, soon to be 335i Touring

It's a G reg with 130k on the clock, not perfect but very original and tidy.Recently refurbed 15 inch cross spoke's,with 2 brand new Avon tyre's.New driver's seat swab.

Not bad for £ 1100 ! ($2016)

Cheque's in the post to Tino @ E30.de for the M30 engine mount's so hope fully the 335i project can start at the end of this month

I carn't wait to pick it up :)

This is what I was thinking doing before I switched to the 325is project.
I was thinking E30 with 535i engine with full mod.... That will be a fast car.

Well done!, I wouldnt mind having a go at this conversion myself. On a scale of 1 - 10 how difficult would you rate it?.

Not to hard,it is quite time consuming especialy if you have to wait for part's turning up.

E34 manual is the best donour car to start with.

I'll PM you a link.

Time isnt too bad, but the winter months are!, now that I'm lacking a garage to work in. I dont use my car for upto 2-3 weeks at a time due to my work so I can afford to be without a car for a while. I suppose if it was going to take alot longer I could always buy a banger to run around in :( .

The next step in my on going project is to try to fit some E28 M5 TB's to my M30 like Hartge did.

I missed the end of this auction on ebay.de

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7928550290&ssPageName=STRK:MEDW:IT

To get these to bolt up i've got to make an adapter plate like the Hartge one and make a plenum/air box.I've got one like the one in the auction but the intake pipe has been moved so it look's a mess.

I'm going to use the back plate from the old plenum so i can use the standard rubber below's that seal the throttle horn's to the plenum and fabricate a new plenum to fit the old back plate.

I will make the intake hole for the plenum bigger than the normal one as it's about the same size as a standard M30 TB on the old M5 plenum.

To get the different port shape's(M30 v's M5)to flow properly i'm going to change the port shape on the in side of the M5 TB's.This porting along with the adapter plate should hope fully give a smooth/gradual change in port shapes.

As you can see by the next picture's there's not to much difference in port shape and size.

My actual M30 head port's are slightly larger than the inside of this old gasket as you can see by the thin black line on the in side edge.It was put together like this by my local shop after i had the head ported was ported,i soon sorted this error out !

All though my car handle's well on the standard sport suspension i've got some Spax spring's and adjustable shock's to go on and also some off set M3 TCA bush's to fit.

Mini update.

Still not started the TB's but the bushs and the Spax suspension is now on,it grips great with out being to harsh.I'm thinking of swapping my rear subframe bushs for powerflex poly' and getting some uprated anti-roll bars to give me even better grip/handling.

When i started this swap i made a mistake chosing which dif ratio i would need.I fitted a 3.25 lsd which was great in 1st and 2nd,3rd was ok but 4th and 5th were to long.

These were my aproximate maximum in gear speeds with the 3.25 dif.

1st ??? (a blur ! :p)
2nd 70mph
3rd 95-100mph
4th 130mph
5th 150mph @ 5500rpm,i ran out of road,it might have gone 160mph(ish)

My new dif(3.64LSD) is a lot better for acceleration with out cutting the top end off to much or making it to short in 1st.I also fitted an Z3M coupe dif mount bush whilst it was off the car.

New dif in gear maximum speeds.

1st ??? (a blur ! :p)
2nd 60mph
3rd 90mph
4th 120mph
5th topped out at 150-152mph @ 6100rpm ish

I've got my first track day in the 335i comming up next month so some uprated pads and fluid is going to be a necessity to try to keep up with some fast modded E30 M3's that are going to be there ! ;)

Heres some up to date picy's with the new suspension and an IS front lip spoiler, the car normally rides a tad lower but the N/S is in the gutter so the cars not sitting level,Doh !

M30 nice and snug

I don't know if you US guys get the Total BMW magazine over there but my car is going to be featured in about 2-3 months time so keep any eye out for it ! :D

Cheers
