Hello all,

I am the owner of a 1989 E34 535i 5 speed. I did look at 735i's before buying the 535i but I was attracted to the 5 speed in the 5 series. Did BMW supply a manual transmission as an option in the 7 Series? Even a tasty mid 80's 735 Alpina I looked at had an auto trans, and Alpina models are supposed to be very sporty.

Cheers,
Nate

i think i read somewere that bmw only imported 170 something manual e32s, it can be converted with e34 parts if you find a nice e32 that you can't live without

More had to have been imported privately. There always seem to be at least one or two available if you look at classifieds on AutoTrader, Bugtar, and the BMWCCA/Roundel classifieds.

I just looked out of curiosity and found three currently on Auto Trader:

I think a E23 745 with a 5-speed would be quite a blast too.

hey is there a 95-99 740iL a 6 speed, i saw conversions but they cost $10,000.00 to make and still u have a warning message, sence its been a auto and now its missing the transmission. And there is only one guy that has the code but he doesnt want to give it away.

They imported them to the US 1988 - 1992. About 402 came in all. 735i only, no V8s.

They show up on the boards and ebay from time to time. I LOVE mine!!! also, they generally sell for *less* than automatics (who wants a whale with a manual), but the extra control really wakes up the M30 engine in this admittedly heavy car. I can break my wheels loose at will, drift through corners... I act more like a kid with a sportscar than a banker with a lux-sedan.
