Just bought a 1991 735i. Do I have to replace the whole front and back end of the car if I have a couple of holes / cracks in the black portion of the front and rear bumpers? I know on my 89 535i you could replace small portion of the bumper

That is basically one part. But you can fix it.

I repaired my one with fibre mats, see here

you may have to register on the German 7-forum first to see the enlarged pics

Very good, so fiberglass is the ticket for the spoiler/dam sections but what about the rubber (black) part of the bumper section. I know on my 535i you can remove these sections and replacement with a rubber mallet. Very easy but I don't see anyway of removing these from the 7

For the rubber/plastic of the bumpers I used a japanese stuff here locally made, just a filler for rubber/bumper material. Nothing special, you probably get it in any of these shops like sears or the other chains.
Here some of the many articles you find in google

So since the bumper is all one material just painted different colors,,, should be easy to fix. What is the bumper made of?

Maybe polypropylene plastic?
