I have a 1/94 manual tranny 540i and my problem is that the car won't idle down by itself. I have checked the throttle cables and throttle butterflies to no avail. I have replaced the idle control motor and nothing different happened. If anyone has any ideas please let me know! MY email is JKBenn02@yahoo.com

Also my heat doesn't work and I have no idea why. THe coolant is full and it blows ice cold. I'm out of ideas!! PLease help, it's cold outside.

Probably your heater valves are stuck in closed position.
Remove the connector to the plug at the heater valves. Without power they should be fully open. If not, try to give them some whacks with a hammer, sometimes they get lose again.

idle issue could be a leak after the throtle body. Cracked intake, broken lines so on.

Make sure your idle control valve is connected and functioning.

broken thermostat can cause both problems.
