I have a very short drive to the train station each day(its walkable, but I have enough trouble getting up before 6am as it is). I noticed last week that the check engine light came on once or twice during the drive to the train station in the morning. I haven't seen it when I drive home at night or any other time.
Today it came on when at a stop light, but as soon as I let off the clutch to pull away the light turned off.
Also possibly worth noting, but could be totally unrelated is that I also occasionally see the Check Control: see manual warning in the LED display on the drive home. I only noticed it a week or so ago. It doesn't happen every day, and the only possible observation is that shows up after turn the car off just after pulling a heel-toe downshift/quick turn into my apt complex to park.
One other note is that my clutch is also starting to slip, but I don't see how that could be related either.
